Thank You, Everyone!
Wow! I feel so loved, with all the happy birthday comments, messages and emails! Thank you!
The other day, Charles asked me how it felt to be 28. I told him to ask me in two days.
Well, the day is here, and although it's frightening to think that I'm thismuch closer to 30, I have to say, it feels good! It's such a cliche, but I have everything I've ever wanted: the most wonderful husband; an adorable, happy child; a fun-loving, low-maintenance furry child (that would be Atari); amazing friends; and the best family I could ask for. I've really lucked out! So much so that sometimes I wonder about the proverbial other shoe. But, I like to think that I do enough good to achieve some sort of karmic balance. Anyway, suffice to say that I feel extremely blessed every day, which is the best gift of all.
I'm looking forward to this next year. I'll continue to be home with Jack, to watch him grow and develop, and Johnny and I have some pretty big plans ourselves, mostly revolving around the purchase of our first home. We're not sure if the current market conditions will work in our favor (declining housing prices) or against us (stricter lending rules), so wish us luck! And this year, we'll also start thinking more seriously about expanding our family again, although the addition herself probably wouldn't arrive until well after my next birthday. Notice I said herself. If I just go about assuming that a girl is in our future, I'm sure it will just happen that way. After all, if I've learned anything from motherhood so far, it's that I have absolute control over everything -- I say as I am pelted with grapes thrown by Jack. (Have you fellow moms collapsed from laughter yet?)
As for what I'm doing today, Jack and I went to apply for his passport this morning, then we had lunch with my mom. It was fun and delicious -- and I'm loving the fact that I can now meet my mom for lunch in the middle of the day! After we got back home, Jack played for a bit while I did a little work, and now, because it is 90 degrees outside, we're headed to the indoor playground. Jack and I also have plans to share an ice cream cone -- it is my birthday, after all! Johnny is coming home at 6 p.m. tonight, woo hoo! And, to top it all off, there's a new episode of Fringe tonight. Perfect! So, thank you all again for all the warm birthday wishes ... I truly appreciate it.

Happy Birthday!!!!! I hope you had an amazing day.
I always worry about the other proverbial shoe too.
So glad you're having an awesome birthday!! I hope that this next year is filled with so much love and laughter for you and your awesome little family.

Happy Birthday! I totally agree, it's not the age that is important, but where you are at that age. I respond with a similar response when I'm asked "how old does it feel to be xx...?"
Have a wonderful evening. Oh, and wishful thinking worked for me when I wanted to have girls next, so...congrats on your future daughter! =)
i didn't realize someone gave you the same mini i did, so here's another one.
Happy bday!!!
Happy Birthday! Honestly, you don't look like you're almost 30! Which, isn't at all a bad thing to be almost 30 either! You look so young! =) You're completely right, your life is perfect! If you're looking for a house ours is up on the market for eighty nine thousand! Two bedrooms, one bath, huge kitchen! To bad we live in the middle of no where-kansas. The housing market is so down, you could get a great price. We were looking at a house that was 4 bedroom, 3 bath, finished basement for 120 thousand. They are *everywhere* in Kansas. I am sure there is a huge price difference where you live, though. Sadly, there are so many foreclosures in the U.S that houses are so cheap right now. It's an awesome time to buy, but not to sell. Which, we've figured out the hard way. Anyway...any plans for having another baby any time soon? =D
Happy Birthday, sorry, a little late, but I've been out of it the last couple of days -- lets just say 2 boys + drumsticks = broken expensive brand new plasma tv.
You are sooo mature for your young age... I'm several years older and never have plans for myself more than a week in advanced. Hopefully, you will be celebrating your bday in 2009 in your new house with your baby girl and family of 4.
I know I'm late but it's better than not. Happy Birthday! You are so young. I thought you were at least 29 or 30 by the way present yourself. I'm just saying you seem mature than your age not by looks. You look not a day older than 23. Good luck in your future plans. I hope everything works out to your favor.
Darn...I knew I would forget!!!!! Well, happy belated birthday
I hope you had a WONDERFUL day!!! What did your mom end up getting you...if I recall she was giving you your gift on your birthday. I'm sure it was as wonderful as your other gifts.
I didn't realize you watch Fringe. I love it! I think it's a great new show (and it has your hubbies double
). Are you still watching 90210? I think it has picked up since the first episode...it has sucked me in.
@shelly1196 - Shelly, you already wished me a happy bday on my recap post! So you didn't forget, but thank you anyway.
As for what I got from my mom, she gave me a very generous amount of birthday money! I'm going to use it to buy an outfit for Johnny's high school reunion in November. She said she wasn't sure what I'd want to buy for that occasion, so now I can get something for myself. Yay.
As for 90210, YES, I am sucked in, too! I almost didn't watch the second episode, but I'm glad I did! Can you believe that skanky drugged-out drama girl? I can't believe she sabotaged Annie like that. ERGH! Oh and wasn't it weird when Naomi's mom almost slapped her husband, but then ended up sleeping with him? I was like, WTH? If Johnny had just come back from shacking up with his girlfriend, I would not be sleeping with him! LOL. I think now that Naomi's mom is free, she's going to come after Annie's dad big time! The only thing that continues to bother me is that Naomi looks way older than a high school student. Also, who wears what she wears?!
I didn't know you watched Fringe, either! I agree with your thoughts on it. I'm on suspense throughout the show! I think Joshua Jackson looked more like Johnny when he was younger (when Joshua Jackson was younger, that is), but, if I squint really hard at the TV and imagined a little bit of pudge around Joshua Jackson's middle, then he looks exactly like Johnny!
Hi Beverly! I hope you got my card. As you could have probably guessed, I've been swamped with work since starting in September, but I'm so happy to hear that you are doing well. We'll catch up when we meet! Take care!!
@noraelle - Amy, I did, thank you so much! It arrived last night. I sent you a text but am not sure if it went through. Thanks again! See you soon -- we can't wait.
Oh my gosh! You're watching Fringe too!! Well, I've tivoed it, but haven't started watching yet.
