First Steps and Other Exciting Weekend Updates
Now that I've reeled you in with the title of this entry, I'll make you wait until the end to read about Jack's first steps. ::evil laughter::
We had a wonderful weekend. As I mentioned, Friday night we took June and Charles to Mastro's to celebrate her 23rd birthday for about the sixth time (she was in Taiwan on her actual birthday, so she celebrated with my parents there, and then with Charles and their friends when she returned to the States, and on Friday with us!). As an appetizer, we got the amazing iced seafood tower with lobster tails, giant shrimp cocktail and crab claws. They even put dry ice in the tower, so it looked beautiful as well as tasty.
Unfortunately, we forgot our camera, so I'll have to steal June's pictures sometime.Saturday, we saw June and Charles again, because they came over to join us for lunch with Aunt Kathy and Uncle Bill. June and I wore matching outfits for fun. While June was in Taiwan, they bought two amazing dresses -- one for June and one for me. The sash can be tied about 20 different ways, and there's even a bustle under the skirt so you can make it a shorter or longer skirt. You can also wear the dress as a skirt. Check out how June and I are sporting different skirt lengths!
After hanging out for a bit, we went to The Counter in Santa Monica for lunch. It's a place where you can build your own burgers. Jack had his first taste of sweet potato fries. He loved 'em so much, he double-fisted.
Speaking of eating, I have found new life for my formula dispensers! Check out my amazing wheel-o-baby-snacks:
I know it's not the most original idea, but it's working out great. I have Cheerios in one compartment, Gerber's fruit-and-yogurt metls in the next, organic Elmo-shaped Cheddar crackers, and Gerbers cherry puffs. Jack is going to be the coolest toddler on the playground, oh yeah!
Today, we met up with our friends Jill and Mike, and their baby Maddie, who is only three days older than Jack. Jill and I belong to an online forum of moms who gave birth in July 2007. We went to Eco Station in Culver City, which takes in abandoned wildlife animals. Jack got to touch an iguana for the first time; it was awesome! Back to the main point, though -- we had lots of fun hanging out with Jill and Mike and Maddie! Maddie was so adorable and smart. I loved watching her and Jack play (and later hang in the pool) together.
I got a peek of what sibling relations might be like. At one point, Maddie was drinking from her sippy cup. Even though he'd rejected his cup only seconds ago, Jack suddenly wanted his own sippy of milk like nothing else. Haha.
The two of them loved frolicking in the water!
The afternoon passed quickly, and then we had to say goodbye to Mike, Jill and Maddie for now. We'll hang out again soon, though!
Maddie, Jill, me and Jack
After Jack's nap, he practiced walking! Now, Jack's been waking a couple of steps unassisted, and he's been cruising (holding on to furniture while walking) for a while now. But, today was the first time he covered distance unassisted! We moved furniture around our living room and set things up so enticing toys were on various "islands." It started out with Jack standing unassisted.
However, he quickly moved on to what you see in this montage video (all taken this afternoon):
Amazing, isn't it??

First how cute are those first baby steps..I love them! Jack is getting too big and before you know it he'll be running everywhere lol. Second, that little Maddie is just adorable
Third, how did you make that video montage thing with just little clips here and there? and finally the formula container for snacks is great isn't it? We did that with MacKenzie's at first and for crackers or biter biscuits or fruit bars that I didn't watch squished I used a travel diaper wipe container! Ok I have got to get to bed but YAY for Jack walking unassisted!!
Nice! Good work, Jack! And so close to the first birthday... that young man is nothing if not prompt.
I don't think walking is too imminent in my house, but my time will come... yikes!
I love it Bev! WAy to go Jack! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray!
Can I keep him? LOL
Adrian is starting take a couple of steps unassisted too....isn't it amazing and he loves to dance too!
Both you and june look fab! like always.

The wheel-o-baby-snacks is sooo cute!!! Hahaha, I can imagine it now, 10 years down the road Jack's going to have the coolest lunches at school. You wouldn't happen to know how to make those cute and pretty Japanese bian dang would you? Haha!!
And it was sooo cute watching Jack fall down!!! Haha, AND playing with Atari! I couldn't watch it with the sound on 'cause I'm at work, but it was still interesting to see how the two interacted.
Yeah, Jack!!
Good luck keeping up.
You and June look great in your dresses and Jack and Maddie look so cute together! Mmmm...sweet potato fries! We went to a restaurant where they bring maple syrup to dip them in - YUM!
YAY, Jack!!! It's so exciting and so cute when they first start walking
Atari is so tolerant of Jack. Kita is good with Hannah, but they're both very hyper!
OMG i LOVE those wobbly little legs!!!! Sooooooooooooooo cute!
Love the dresses, too! You two looked adorable!
yay for walking
Yay for Jack!!!!! Walking is the ultimate milestone! For some reason, I can't view Jack's first steps video... I'm going to have to try another computer.
Seeing your cool snack dispenser makes me want to buy the formula dispenser on my next trip to BRU. Right now I use the ziplock 4 oz containers to hold snacks (only 1 at a time for my kids).
Oh btw, Tristan also has that cool star wars shirt
LOVE IT!
What cool dresses!! I want one
I have to admit, seeing Jack's yummy snacks made me hungry! Cute pics, I can't wait to see the video of Jack's first steps- it's not working for me now for some reason, but I'll try again!
Awww! I just got it to work! Too cute- especially the part with Atari- he looks so patient!
He walked right into the camera! AH too cute!
Gooooo Jack!! That video was SO cute and I can't believe Jack is walking now!! He is such a big boy and I agree, Atari seems to be so patient with him; what a great doggie.
) And happy belated birthday to June! I love your dresses-so pretty and that is neat you can tie it different ways.
)
Haha, loved the baby obstacle course! I feel so fortunate to be able to catch Jack walking after not checking Xanga for a while. You should submit your idea for the baby formula dispenser to Real Simple, I bet they'd publish it (unless it's been submitted already). The pictures of Jack and Maddie playing together are really cute, I wonder when he'll upgrade from his only child status. ; )
