Baby yoga and other fun updates
Derek's getting ready to crawl. He's been creeping and rolling all over the place, but this weekend, he got on all fours for the first time (and even rocked back and forth for about two seconds). Johnny managed to get a couple of pictures, which I thought looked like baby yoga poses.
Derek says: "I'm going to open up a yoga studio here at home!"
Also, a picture to show off his ridiculously long eyelashes. I'm more than a little jealous of them.
While we're at it, I'll also share this picture of Derek chilling out in his high chair.
Bring on the grub!
And those were probably the only moments when Derek was happy this weekend. Unfortunately, cutting his first tooth has caused him a lot of pain. It's popped through now, so things should get better, but all weekend, Derek had a low fever and was irritable. The fever went away the day the tooth came through, but man, we certainly heard a lot of whining from our poor baby! Luckily, we had plenty of fun activities to distract us.
Friday night after the boys were in bed, I met up with Wa and Yue, who was visiting from San Francisco. We've all been reading each other's Xanga pages for what, four or five years now? The first time we met in person was almost exactly three years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack. Yue and I saw each other when Jack was a few months old, and last winter, Wa and I had lunch when we were both in Taiwan at the same time. Anyway, this was the first time that Wa has seen me when I haven't been pregnant! How crazy is that? Now she has a baby of her own. Anyway, it's always great to see the girls (and Yue's friend Mike, who got her from the airport).
Here we are! That's Wa in green and Yue next to Mike
Outside, we took one regular and one goofy pic
Saturday morning, our friends Rina and Adam came for a playdate with their daughters (one is two years old; the other is five months). Jack had some issues with sharing, but we adults had a great time! Saturday evening, our occasional sitter came to watch the boys (well, Derek was in bed already, so technically I guess she didn't see him!) while Johnny and I went on a fun double date with one of his friends from work (and the friend's fiancee). We had a yummy dinner and then went to Ugo in Culver City for a wine tasting. Fun stuff.
Yesterday, Milena came over with Marcus for a playdate in the morning, then we took it easy for a few hours. When Jack got up from his nap, we took him to get his haircut at the mall, and like we usually do, ate at Ruby's. Promising a hot dog, milk shake and fries was practically the only way to keep Jack semi-calm during the haircut. Sigh.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Oh my gosh, Derek is soooo adorable! So is Jack! Hi Beverly, I don't know if you remember me from high school, but this is Debbie Chung (Lee now
But ever since a high school friend told me about your site, i've been "stalking" you because your children are so cute and you're pretty informative.....Anyway, just saying *hello* finally!
)
Hello I am now famous in your post 3 times to boot hahaha. You looked amazing and I am now more motivated to work out!!! I will send you and Wa a message about possible April get together:)
Yue
@Debbie - HI, DEBBIE! Of COURSE I remember you! So nice to "see" you. Congratulations on your marriage!
Are you on Facebook? I am -- add me, and let's catch up more there.
I'd love to hear what you're up to and how the last, oh, 11 years have been!
How adorable! =) I'm wondering how this will go once Adrienne is crawling. I'm pretty sure we are going to have our hands full once our babies start moving around every where! I'm excited and scared at the same time....
@Redapple333 - talk about working out, I NEED TO GET STARTED. Getting back into it... need to start making plans for gym and eating better.
Look at Derek! He's about to start crawling! I can't wait till Caleb can crawl too, but at the same time I don't want him to grow so fast. They're just so cute at this age. But then again, I look at Jack and he's really at a sweet age too. Can't make up my mind.
@My_Enigma_Heart - All the ages so far have been fun in their own way! I do miss each one as it passes, but then the next one is cute, too.
And, silly, you look beautiful. As I kept saying, you're only 3 months out! I'm sure soon you will be back to fighting shape. (Just in time for baby #2, haha.)
Love all the pictures of baby Derek posing!! It DOES look like he's doing baby yoga. He is growing up so fast! That is so neat you got to reunite with your Xanga friends! Looks like y'all had a blast. I hope we get to meet up one day Beverly! Even though I'm on the other side of the U.S. Have you kept in touch w/ Jody? I noticed she doesn't blog anymore.
p.s. Jackie's weight loss is incredible! She has kept it off for a few years now and I know that has got to be hard work!
)
@Kbecky07 - I would love to meet you, too, Becky! I know we'd get along great.
You never know -- I do sometimes make it out East, since I have friends there. I don't get to so much these days, but there will come a day when the boys are more independent, and we'll have more money by then, too, to spend on travel. Anyway, yes, I've kept in touch with Jody! In fact, last month she, John and their son Noah spent a night here when they visited Southern California. We're also both on Facebook, so we keep in touch that way.
However evidently your own vocabulary are realistic
