Happy Chinese New Year (and Valentine's Day)!
Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. I'm very lucky to be surrounded by my loved ones today (and every day). It's been a busy and fun weekend, and really I should be taking advantage of the boys' naptime to get some chores done, but I wanted to share some adorable pictures of newly bald Derek.
So cute!
Johnny, June, Charles and I ended up seeing Valentine's Day last night instead of tonight (since no one has tomorrow off). My verdict is that they really need to stop making romantic comedies using the Love Actually formula. Love Actually was a great movie, He's Just Not That Into You was good (same formula), but Valentine's Day was, predictably, predictable and cheesy. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it -- I'm a sap; of course I had a good time watching it -- but parts of it just made me groan (and, the best part of the experience was getting to go to a movie with June and Charles). But, what can I say, we're all suckers: Put a bunch of A-list celebrities into a romantic comedy, release it on Valentine's Day weekend, and BOOM!, it is guaranteed to do well.
OK, off to do something more productive. I hope everyone's having a great day!

So did you guys decide to just cut his hair all off? He looks adorable!
@glorycato - Thank you! No, we didn't just decide to do it for fun -- it's a Chinese tradition to shave baby boys' heads at 6 months (or around then; Derek's 7 months now). If you go to my page, the second entry down explains it (and links to my entry from when Jack got his head shaved two years ago!).
oh my gosh, I love the pictures! He's so cute bald
very cute. Happy Chinese new years! i wish i was in taiwan like every year. next year! wanna go?
Hahaha Derek looks much older with a bald head! I always thought the tradition was the shave the head of the baby at 1 month. Or is it one of those things that just varies?
@geniusbarb - Yeah, I know some families do it at one month, but I think six months is more common. I'd be afraid to get the baby's head shaved at one month -- their necks are still so wobbly at that point!
Such a cute baby!
=D
Cute pictures Beverly! Derek is one adorable baby..I wanna pinch his cheeks. I didn't hear good reviews on V-day, so I just might wait until it goes on dvd, so i can rent it. What a bummer!
