Yet Another New Adventure
Yes, folks, another big announcement! No, I'm not pregnant again (that would require me to have two uteruses, ha). This news is even more exciting, if that's possible: Johnny and I are now in escrow for our first home! I won't write too much about it on here until the house closes ... for some reason, I feel like I would be jinxing this whole process to write about it on my blog.
(I do owe some of you emails about this whole ordeal -- there is a saga behind it.) But, here is the 3,000-foot view: It is in a really ideal neighborhood in Torrance, walking distance to a great elementary school, and very close to a park. The house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large den that we'll use as an office/guest room. While the structure is good, and everything works, it will require some renovations. Luckily we have a family friend who owns a construction firm, so we trust him and know he'll get it done on time. The escrow is going to take 45 days, which is required by our lender (we're going with an FHA loan and also borrowing some extra for renovations), and then the construction will take three or four weeks. So, I'll be about 34 or 35 weeks pregnant when we move, if everything goes smoothly. However, I don't feel like this baby will come super early, and as long as I'm in the house when the baby comes, I'm OK living out of boxes if I have to. If we do get to move when I'm 34 or 35 weeks, though, then I'll have a little time to unpack, and then it's baby time! I'm very excited. Wish us a smooth escrow, please!

Beverly, I'm so happy and excited for you-congrats! You will be future homeowners!
) The house sounds beautiful and very spacious. And it sounds like its in an ideal location; close to the park, school, etc. It sounds like a dream come true. I hope and pray everythin goes smoothly including your escrow. I hope you get to post pics of the house when you get a chance. Your previous post on Jack was super cute- I loved the videos!
Yay! I'm so excited for you! Congrats!
Congratulations!!!! Being that I work in a law office, closings are second nature around here....and I wish you the best of luck because I know that they can be very stressful. It will go through and all will be well. I know you will be in before Baby Boy #2 comes along.
Hey Bev: Sorry haven't comment in a while, i recently got lay-off so I was sorted of to myself, but on a happier note, I'm home and taking care of adrian.
I am very happy about the whole housing procedure your going through, very exciting....can't wait until you put up pics of it. Again Jack is adorable and yes he is grown up sleeping in his big boy bed, I know the feeling we stared adrian in the fall so its been a while but the first he slept in his room in his bed, I wanted to cry, the time does fly by. The videos are super cute and love both backyards, soon we'll be seeing yours
Wow!!! Congrats and good luck!!! I would love to hear more details about the house!
As usual, I'm going to share some of my own experience of buying a house and moving in when I was 36 weeks along with my first. We dealt with 5 months of renovations when they promised one month, so I hope you don't have to deal with delays like that. Buying a house is a huge step, but with your organizational skills, I'm sure you'll do much better than us!
I had to look up Escrow, LOL. I didn't know what the word meant! I knew it has something to do with real estate, but we don't use that term up here. CONGRATS!!! That is SO exciting! I'll admit I'm a bit jealous too! Our condo is great and all, but it'd be so nice to have a house with a backyard! Congrats again!
Congratulations again!!!
So exciting! I remember when we were going through this last year! Everything is going to go great! We'll just focus on "great"!
I want an email on the whole house shopping ordeal too! Don't forget about me! Everything is so on track for you. ~ very exciting; 2 kids, a house (near school), wonderful husband, and very supportive families. You go, Girly!
This sounds like a wonderful adventure! Here's to escrowing!
However, a second uterus sounds like a pretty exciting time too.
@annadotes - Right? Although I think that might be more excitement than I could handle! Here's a question: If a woman with two uteruses became pregnant in both, but with different due dates, what would happen to the other uterus during the first baby's labor? I suppose c-section would be the only way to go. OK, clearly I have no life, if I'm pondering theoretical dual-uterus labors.
I've watched exactly ONE Episode of Gray's Anatomy, and this exact subject was the theme of the show. The matter was further complicated, because said woman with two uteruses got pregnant by two different guys. It threw a wrench into her relationship.
@annadotes - Yes, i remember that Grey's episode! It's what got me thinking about this whole thing in the first place.
congratulations!!!! what an exciting year for you....new house and new baby! plenty of room for your boys in the new house!
Congratulations! How exciting this must be all for you. I hope you move before the baby. Try not too exert yourself too much with packing.
Wow Congratulations! That's wonderful news! I hope you have time to get settled in before the baby comes! Sounds like a wonderful home!
Well, I am SUPER excited for you! It sounds awesome! Got my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for you!
Congrats! i do know what you mean about telling everyone. i dont think anyone knew we got a house until after we have closed. i cant wait to see the pics
