Growing, Kicking and Still a Boy!
Sorry for the lack of updates, everyone! I've been running around like a chicken with her head cut off since my return from Taiwan. The flight was uneventful, and Jack and I had a wonderful reunion with Johnny. Since our return, I've been working (on both work work stuff and Jack's sibling preparedness plan), enjoying time with Johnny and looking at houses. Oh, yes, and I've been gestating.
Today was the big anatomy ultrasound. Although we already know Baby Surprise is a boy, I was still really excited to see him again. And, it was so awesome! The ultrasound technician was super nice, and when Johnny was running late to meet me, she took her other patient first, so that he could be there for the whole thing. She spent a long time, probably 15 minutes, going over everything with us, and the pictures were super clear. All the news was great: Baby Surprise is doing very well, measuring about three or four days ahead given his measurements. He's head down for now -- I know that means nothing because I'm only almost 21 weeks, but the thing is, Jack was never head down at any point, on any ultrasound, so I'm already encouraged (dare I hope that this baby will be head-down for delivery?). His heartbeat is 149 beats per minute, and the technician said that he had a "beautiful" heart, with all four chambers and symmetrical blood flow. We also saw his brain, his beautiful spine, all 10 fingers and 10 toes, and his full belly and bladder. We also saw his tongue sticking out, and saw him drinking that yummy amniotic fluid. It was really so, so neat. With Jack, my old OB had a really outdated ultrasound machine, so we didn't see nearly as much detail.
Here's a cute profile shot!
Baby was definitely not shy about his gender. The following profile shot shows his legs open, with his wee-wee sticking straight up! And, you can also see the curlicue of his umbilical cord.
I have much more to write about, but I better get to making dinner. More later!

oh my! that's the clearest baby boy parts on an ultrasound I've ever seen!!!! kid's not born yet and the whole internet world has seen his privates!
welcome back to the states! wow, those ultrasound pictures are really clear! great profile and privates pictures! boys/guys are so proud of their things that they show it the first chance they get! lol same with my son for my ultrasound with him. but when it was my daughter's turn, it took us forever of me laying nearly upside down and moving my tummy to get her to move around in my tummy to see what gender she was. had to come back another day cuz she wouldn't cooperate. same with my 2nd daughter, took us 2-3 attempts before we could see what gender she was in the ultrasound.
you're already halfway there with the pregnancy! wow, seems like you just announced you were pregnant, then went into an eating frenzy while you're on vacation, and now you're 21 weeks already!
I don't think I've ever seen a boy so well defined on an ultrasound. LOL. I don't think there's ANY mistaking that you are having another boy!
I'm so happy that Baby #2 is head down for you! I know it is only 21 weeks, but still... that is exciting when you had so many "come on baby, turn" wishes for Jack! Are you planning a VBAC? I can't recall at the moment!!
I'm so happy to hear from you back here on xanga!
Loved the updates from Taiwan.
Glad to hear you all made it home safely! Love the ultrasound pics- they are amazing!! Have a great weekend!
yay for baby parts! I'm happy to hear everything is going as planned! And welcome back to the states to join me!
Sounds promising Baby Surprise is turning all kinds of circles in your tummy...
Yea for Baby Surprise!!! hehe I like that last photo, not shy at all!!
Those are some really good profiles of the 'Squishy'. That's what I'm gonna call him until you give us a name. Squishy, not because of the amniotic fluid or anything, but just because babies are so squishy and huggable.
It's what I call Dylan. LOL!
You know, It is the first time ever, but when I saw the ultrasounds I didn't say, "I WANT ONE!" I said, "Aw, how cute!" I think I am FINALLY over the 'baby-fever'. We'll see. Hahaha!
It's amazing how fast the ultrasound equipment gets updated. They had an old ultrasound machine for most of my pregnancy with Tierney, but then got the brand new shiny one when I was about 38 weeks along -- of course, then it was too late to really see anything because she was too big.
Beautiful little boy!
Can't wait to see him on THIS side of the uterus! Glad you are home safe and sound from Taiwan!!!
I love the profile shots. I swear in those moments I have been able to see glimpses of what my babies would look like one they came out. So precious!
So cute!
Glad you and baby Jack made it home safely Beverly!! Those are some cute profile pics! Hope you had a great weekend and got lots of rest.
)
Congrads again beverly, sure you have a great time and Johnny couldn't have been much happier for both his favorite people to return to him.
Baby boy is looking great....
awwww so glad that everything looks great with baby surprise! He is precious and I can't wait for him to make his arrival
I cant believe you are already over halfway there.
Glad you both made it home safely!
I'm so glad that everything looks good! He is sooo cute. That second picture made me chuckle
Hannah was head down at around 30 weeks or so and then she flipped. Aidan was head down but then he was breech for awhile and then he was head down again...they just do whatever they please! I really hope Baby Surprise is head down for you at the end!!!
