Sitting Up
One week before his six-month "birthday," Jack has now accomplished this:
That's right, my precious boy is now sitting up unaided! He's been working at it a while now, sitting well while propped up and using his hands in front of him to hold himself up in a folded-over position. But on Saturday, at my parents' place, I noticed that he was actually capable of balancing himself while sitting unpropped and looking up at the same time. Lately he's also been lifting his butt or knees (but not both simultaneously yet) while on his tummy. I'm sure creeping or crawling is not far behind.
With sitting, Jack has now officially outgrown his bouncy seat. This is his default action whenever he's in the bouncy seat now:
Let me go, pleeeeeeeeeease!
I'm very proud of this latest milestone, but it also makes me a little sad. Sitting up is Jack's first big move toward independence. Very quickly, my tiny baby is growing up!
Seems like yesterday when he looked like this in the bouncy seat:
One of these days, I'll come home to find him driving ... sniff, sniff!

He sure has grown ALOT!! He's such a cutie!! They do grow up fast. It seems as though I was pregnant yesterday.
Jack is like officially the cutest baby, ever. I can't get enough of him.
And guess whattttttt??? You don't have to wait long to get me to do your family portraits!!! I'm coming to LA Feb. 18-28. So figure out a time in there that's good for you to take pictures (and of course visit, as much as possible!)
I'll call u with details.
Surprise!
He's so adorable! Congrats on the milestone.
Beverly: I LOVE IT! Hurray for Jack. HE is soooooooooooooooooooooooo Adorable.....I wish I could see him in person! LOL Adrian is trying to sit up as well, and when he lays downs he tries to get up....he is "cra-walk-ing". My new word. He doesn't know if he wants to crawl or walk like monkey. He'll be in the crawling position and the next thing you know he is on his feet moving like a little monkey. LMBO
Whose knows, Jack my just say, forget crawling I want to walk!. The grow up so fast.
Glad you had a great weekend.
jassy
Aw, Bev! I got all teary eyed seeing him sitting up like that.
Don't grow up, Jack!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!
He is so cute though. Wonder what he will look like when all that beautiful hair is gone? LOL!
He is SO dang cute!
I know.. those milestones are both great and sad. It's good to recognize them as such, I think b/c it means you will appreciate each one as is and not just let them fly by.
I've come to a place where there just aren't many milestones left. I think driving IS the next one!! (just kidding)
AWW, look at that cutie! Can you believe it's already been half a year?!
Wow, go Jack!
He'll be crawling before you know it!
Oh my goodness! I can't believe it! He's growing too fast! Kailyn is sitting on my lap, and she said "awww baby!..I love you!" when she saw Jack. You crying yet? lol
Oh my gosh-he is soooooo CUTE Beverly!! I just want to pick him up and give him a kiss on his cheek! Yay for him sitting up on his own-he is growing up so fast!
)
OMgosh I can't get over how cute he is. I love his expressions in each picture, too. YAY Jack!!!!
I LOVE his smile!!!! Happy 6 months Jack!
My goodness, look at him grow! Isn't it amazing? I know that I can't wait for my kids to get to certain milestones (like crawling, sitting up, walking, etc.), but at the same time, I know that I'll probably never have a newborn again, so I am trying my hardest to treasure the moments when they're so tiny!
OMG, jack is soooooooooo C-U-T-E!!! he seems like such a happy and cheerful baby, smiles all the time.
congrats to him on sitting unsupported! my youngest one was the same way, sat unassisted a week before her her 6 month mark. the others sat at 6 months. yaay to jack! i know i already said this but he's sooooo cute!
Oh my gosh...I was clapping and cheering and made Shaun look at the pictures!!! He's sooooo cute and I love it when they can sit on their own
Awwwwww!!! I am again saddened (and so is Shaun) that all his hair will be gone soon
That second pic is absolutely adorable......he is so CUTE!!!!
I forgot to mention...we have a Maclaren Quest. We got the previous year's model so it was cheaper (they can be pricey). I love it! It maneuvers well, it's very light, easy to fold/unfold...the breaks are a bit awkward and you can't really fit anything in the mesh bag underneath (especially if you have the seat reclined), but those are minor things. We didn't get it until Hannah was about a year, but Jack would do fine in it. If Jack likes to have toys I have used ones with ring clips and fastened them to the straps for Hannah. Oh, one more thing...if you take them out and you have a bunch of stuff hanging off the handles, the stroller will fall over. We got a cup attachment for ours and I had a full cup of iced coffee and I took Hannah out to change her and the stroller fell over spilling the contents of my coffee all over the floor and into some bags I had (including a brand new outfit for Hannah).
awwww, i know, kids grow up so fast! one day, u'll see him going off to college and coming home for the holidays. then, memories flash back to when u were on the birth table having him.........awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
I love that 2nd pic of Jack! He looks so mischevious! Did you get my email? I sent it like an hour ago.
jack is just to cute!! i cant believe he is almost 6 months. i cant wait to see the pics of him with no hair. congrats to him sitting up... just a little bit longer and he will be terrorizing Atari
LOL
haha, thanks babe, you share my woes. I stare at desserts all the time, crunchy things and sweet things are my weakness! I do have a mini binge feast every so often and eat like 800 calories in one night, its scary but not hard to do if you love food LOL.
I'm going to have dinner at this place called Cafe Gratitude, they have all raw, vegan entrees. I'm excited, its this friday.
What are your weekend plans?
p.s. Jack is so freaking CUTE
Hi! I don't comment often, but have been stopping by your site every now and then (first through Holly's site and now through Robin's). I thought I should stop lurking today and sub as I truly enjoy your posts.
It's amazing how quickly those milestones pass. It seemed to me with my daughter (almost 18 months) that once she started doing the big things she just didn't stop.
RYC: Thanks for the sub and I've added you to my list!
Hi Beverly! I'm back!! Did Jack grow twice as fast while I was gone? It definitely feels like it. I love that bath picture; he looks like he's really enjoying his bath! I will soon post pictures and updates of my trip, but in the mean time, I have to catch up on everybody's news.
