    BOY!!!!

I will post the sonogram pictures when I get home from my parents' tonight. The ultrasound went really well -- the baby was measuring a few days ahead of 20 weeks, which is awesome. He was moving around a lot, with his head on my left side, his spine curving up against my belly button and his legs nestled into my right side. We saw his hands and feet (10 fingers and 10 toes!), and every vertebra on his spine. The doctor managed to get a shot of his underside, and it was clear that the baby was a he! Already showing off! The doctor almost slipped up -- she said, "And there's a ... did you want to know the gender?" Luckily we did!

I've always pictured myself as a girl mom, so I was a little nervous about how I'd feel if I found out the baby was a boy. I was afraid I'd feel disappointed. But seriously, I was just so happy to see a healthy, moving baby. Johnny is thrilled to have a boy (although he insists he would have been thrilled to have a girl, too!). He says there is a lot he can teach a little boy. We look forward to raising a boy who will become a quality man (the kind who will treat everyone with respect and who will call when he says he's going to! ).

And, as a bonus, there are some more belly pics under a protected post, for you girls out there.

  • awww I cant see the belly pics!!! :(

  • i was at my belly dancing class tonight and thinking about u and i was like, you know, I think its gonna be a boy...and I was right! Given that it was a 50/50 chance of guessing haha, but yeah, you are gonna be a great mom! And who knows, your next baby could be a girl (i know, i'm thinking too far already) haha

    CONGRATS!

  • awww Congratulations! That is so exciting! Glad that he was cooperative for you. I was so nervous at my sonogram that they wouldn't be able to tell lol.

  • Awww, congrats!!!! Have you thought of names?

I've always pictured myself a "boy" mom. But I could never think of a boy's name. Whereas I have a girls name that I love, but I'm not sure how I'd deal with a daughter LOL!

  • Congratulations!!  How exciting... a boy!!  So, I guess I don't have the gift of premonition!!  LOL!!  :o )

  • Wow, best wishes, Beverly!  That's SO exciting to finally know the gender!  :)

  • Yayyy how exciting!   I don't think i'm on your protected list, can I see though (or will you add me!?!)

  • Congratulations!  That's so wonderful!  I am glad to hear that everything is going as planned (well ya know the fingers toes and spine stuff!)  HEHE!!

  • I just want to say Congratulations again on having a baby boy!! I'm really excited to find out what name you'll pick. I think if I were to have just one child, I'd want that child to be a girl; but if I have two, I "definitely" want the older one to be a boy. When I was young, I always asked my mom for an older brother (naturally, my wish was never granted).
